Waxing Before and Aftercare

Please contact us straight away if you have any questions/concerns regarding waxing (before or after your appointment).

To ensure the best results possible from your wax treatment, we ask that you follow these simple steps...

Before waxing

Make sure your hair is at least 1/4 inch long (the length of a grain of rice - usually a 2-3 week growth) at your appointment. Don't shave between appointments.

Don't worry if your hair is too long - we will trim it

For best results moisturise daily and exfoliate

Avoid pain for the gain and take some pain relief before hand

Please do not use a sun bed or overexpose the area you are having waxed to the sun 24 hours before your appointment

Avoid sensitising your skin by picking at your skin or exercising heavily

Waxing aftercare

Some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, especially if this is your first wax.

This should settle over the next 24-48 hours, but please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

Keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction during the next 24-48 hours:

  • No hot baths, showers or saunas (cool to lukewarm water only).

  • No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans).

  • No sport, swimming, gym work or other vigorous exercise.

  • No scratching or scrubbing the treated area.

  • No sexual activity after intimate waxing.

  • No deodorants, body sprays, make-up, powders or lotions on the waxed area, other than those products recommended by your therapist.

  • Do wear clean, loose-fitting clothes.

  • Do use clean towels after bathing.

  • Do apply an antiseptic cream regularly for the next few days to soothe and protect the skin. Always wash your hands before applying any product.

  • Do apply a sunblock on exposed areas of waxed skin before heading outside.

To prevent ingrown hairs: starting a few days after your appointment, gently exfoliate the skin up to 3 times a week using a body mitt, brush or scrub.

Moisture the area every day to keep the skin supple and help new hairs grow through normally.

The first few times you get waxed, you might notice a small amount of regrowth after a week or so. It can take several treatments for your hair to get on a cycle that gives best results. Hair should be at least ¼ inch (the length of a grain of rice - usually a 2-3 week growth) for us to wax, so please don’t shave, tweeze or use hair removal creams between appointments. To maintain a smooth appearance, we recommend regular waxing every 4-6 weeks.
